We've partnered with Youki to design and develop a smartphone app that predicts the quality of sunrises and sunsets before they happen. Drawing on cloud cover, humidity, aerosol density, and sun angle, the app forecasts not just whether a sky will be worth watching, but which colours are likely to appear — helping early risers and afternoon sun seekers find the most beautiful skies.
The design leans into restraint. Sunrises are already beautifully complex; the interface doesn't need to be. Built bilingually in Japanese and English, the app is being tuned to feel calm and considered — a quiet companion for sky-watchers, there at the right moment when the sky is about to do something remarkable.
